2-Piece Razor vs. Butterfly Razor

Some might not initially like the idea that the Merkur 34C razor is a 2 piece razor instead of a butterfly…

That means you have to unscrew the two parts to change razor blades rather than turning a know to open the head…

But on the other hand… there are NO gaps between the head, blade and handle base…

That means you WON’T have to open it up to wash “inside” like with a butteryfly razor… just run the head under water…

In reality… that will save you MUCH MORE time in the long run!

I WASH my razor after EVERY shave… I CHANGE THE BLADE only once every week or more…

Also… less moving parts means less chance of your razor breaking or wearing out…

Is the Merkur 34C razor a good fit for seasoned razor vets too?

The Merkur 34C razor might be a “starter razor” to some… but to MANY it’s a LIFETIME razor!

It’s simply a well constructed, reasonably priced, well-rounded razor that is trustful and reliable…

I know many razor enthusiasts who “graduate” and buy “fancier” safety razors later… only to go back to using their Merkur 34C while that “fancy” razor collects dust next to the crappy Gillette Fusion

The Parker 98R safety razor is the newest and heaviest razor out there…

Released only a couple months ago in February… this is the new “baby” of the Parker Razor line…

And it’s one BIG baby!!!

If you read my Parker 82R razor review from a few months back, you know I LOVE HEAVY RAZORS…

WOW!!!

So why is razor weight so important you ask?

The heavier the razor… the less pressure you need to apply while shaving…

But on the other hand… there are NO gaps between the head, blade and handle base…

That means you WON’T have to open it up to wash “inside” like with a butteryfly razor… just run the head under water…

Also… less moving parts means less chance of your razor breaking or wearing out…

The Parker 98R razor should last a LIFETIME!

And if one of the 3 parts does need replacement, you can just replace that part instead of the entire razor…
