Merkur 34C Review – HD Safety Razor

Merkur 34C Safety Razor is the ULTIMATE Beginner safety razor!

The Merkur 34C Razor is one of the highest recommended razors out there…

A rock solid, well-rounded razor… this is easily the “most popular” of the Merkur Razor line…

And like all Merkur razors… this baby is hand crafted in Solingen, Germany… not mass-produced in China like those crappy Gillette Mach3 razors…

Just ask Vince the ShamWow guy – the BEST stuff is made in Germany! :-)

Many recommend the Merkur 34C Safety Razor for people who want to buy their first double edge safety razor…

It’s handle has the perfect “not too long” yet “not too short” balance…

The handle also has enough girth to make it comfortable to handle… yet has a textured grip to ensure it won’t be slipping out of your hand anytime soon…

The best thing about this newest version of the Merkur 34C is… it’s now HEAVY DUTY!

So what is so great about the EXTRA WEIGHT of the newer Merkur 34C HD version?

The extra weight makes it easier to shave!

I’m a HUGE fan of heavier razors… you have to push less and get less cuts, drag, and razor burn…

The WEIGHT of the razor alone puts enough pressure on your face to cut the hair…

You can let IT do the work… unlike those crappy plastic disposable razors!

You can order it here…

2-Piece Razor vs. Butterfly Razor

Some might not initially like the idea that the Merkur 34C razor is a 2 piece razor instead of a butterfly…

That means you have to unscrew the two parts to change razor blades rather than turning a know to open the head…

But on the other hand… there are NO gaps between the head, blade and handle base…

That means you WON’T have to open it up to wash “inside” like with a butteryfly razor… just run the head under water…

In reality… that will save you MUCH MORE time in the long run!

I WASH my razor after EVERY shave… I CHANGE THE BLADE only once every week or more…

Also… less moving parts means less chance of your razor breaking or wearing out…

Is the Merkur 34C razor a good fit for seasoned razor vets too?

The Merkur 34C razor might be a “starter razor” to some… but to MANY it’s a LIFETIME razor!

It’s simply a well constructed, reasonably priced, well-rounded razor that is trustful and reliable…

I know many razor enthusiasts who “graduate” and buy “fancier” safety razors later… only to go back to using their Merkur 34C while that “fancy” razor collects dust next to the crappy Gillette Fusion ;-)

So what are some OTHER Merkur 34C reviews?

So you now have MY opinion on the Merkur 34C razor, now how about some SECOND opinions…

Over at Amazon for it I found about 25 reviews with the average rating of 4 1/2-out-of-5 stars

Excellent!

Here’s a sampling of actual users’ comments…

“…It’s heft and forgiveness allow a good learning curve so that you don’t slice up your face as you improve your technique over time….”

“…I bought the Merkur 34C HD on Amazon in the Spring of 2008. Best shaving experience I have ever had…”

“…As feedback here have suggested, the HD 34C is a great beginners razor and it was mine when I decided to switch from Mach3 to DE (double edge) wet shaving….”

“…This is a solidly made and really well-built razor….”
